Headers and Footers are text or graphics that appear at the top and bottom of a page. A Header will appear at the top of the page and a Footer will appear at the bottom of the page.
Headers and footer will appear on every page in your document. You can add a page number, dates, the document file name or a copyright line to a header or footer.

Inserting a Header
To set up a header in your document, click on the Insert tab and find the Header & Footer group.
Click on the Header item and a drop down list of header options will appear.
Select the first item on the list, Blank. The top of your page will then look like this ...
Type in the text you want to appear in the header of each page in your document.
When you have finished, click on the Close Header & Footer command.

Inserting a Footer
Let's have a go at adding page numbers to the footer of a document.
The footer is the opposite of the header - the footer will appear at the bottom of each page in the document.
To set up a header in your document, click on the Insert tab and find the Header & Footer group.
To move to the footer, click on the Go to Footer command.
Your word processor will jump to the bottom of the page, and the cursor will be flashing in the footer area.
To insert a page number, locate the Header Footer panel on the Design tab and click the Page Number command. From the drop down list of items click on Current Position. The number 1 will be added in the footer of the page.
If you scroll to page 2 in the document, the page number will change. Your word process or will automatically add the correct page number at the bottom of each page.
When you are happy with your footer, click on the Close Header and Footer command.
